Giulio Prisco is a senior science and technology consultant with over 20 years of experience in applied research and emerging technologies. In the picture above he appears with his Second Life avatar while giving a lecture at the emerging technology conference Transvision 2006. The picture summarizes his two main interests: emerging technologies and virtual reality.
He obtained a degree in theoretical and computational physics in 1983. Until November 2005 he has worked with several research centres and agencies in Europe in research, software development, computer science, technical management and senior management roles:
CERN (1984-1988) - mainly electronics and real-time software development.
ESA (1988-1993) - mainly computational physics, high performance computing and networking, visualisation and computer graphics, geomatics.
European Union Satellite Centre (1993-2005) - senior management roles e.g. Head of Research Division, Head of Geomatics and Application Development Division.
Giulio Prisco has in-depth expertise in several fields including physics, scientific software design and development, real-time software design and development, computer science, high performance computing and networking, computer graphics and Virtual Reality, satellite observation and surveillance, geomatics, space, defence, technology foresight, technology management, administration, and management. Besides, he has developed an excellent high level, horizontal view of the interrelations and synergies between different science and technology domains.
Since December 2005, Giulio Prisco is a free agent and collaborates with several companies in different high technology domains. He is the founder of metafuturing, a company specialized in Second Life, Virtual Reality, Internet Services, and Science and Technology Consulting.
On the non-profit side, Giulio Prisco serves on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies and the World Transhumanist Association, and contributes to the work of the Center for Responsible Nanotechnology as a member of the CRN Global Task Force on Implications and Policy.
Languages: Giulio Prisco speak fluently English, French, Spanish and Italian, and make himself understood in a few other languages as well.
He is currently based in Spain and often travel to Italy, Hungary and other places.
